Pewaukee is a village in Waukesha County, Wisconsin, United States. The population was 8,166 at the 2010 census. The village is surrounded by the City of Pewaukee. The city was incorporated from what was formerly the Town of Pewaukee, and the remainder of the town later incorporated as a city. The name of the village comes from "Pee-wauk-ee-wee-nick," meaning either "the dusty water"〔"Approach of the White Man." ''History of Milwaukee''. Chicago: The Western Historical Company, 1881. pp. 33-55.〕 or "lake of shells"〔(Dictionary of Wisconsin History )〕 in Potawatomi. ==Geography== Pewaukee is located at (43.082659, -88.252842).
